Electron Microscope Facility at Fairfax and SciTech campuses
The Electron Microscope Facility (EMF), located in EXPL-L304, is designed to enable research activities at George Mason University. The EMF may be used by Principal Investigators, Researchers, and Students of the George Mason Community. Research instrumentation in the EMF was jointly purchased by COS and CEC. We encourage the community to utilize this excellent resource. See the management link for contacts and instructions on usage.

The JEM-140 TEM, JSM-IT500 SEM, Rigaku XRD, and Xplora Plus Raman are in Exploratory Hall L-304 and overseen by Andrea Brothers ([email protected]) and Xiaoyan Tan ([email protected])
The JSM-7200F is at Innovation Park and overseen by Johnnie Hall.
Regular office hours (9 AM to 5 PM) all year round; except during holidays observed at George Mason University. Advanced users (who used an instrument no less than 20 hours in the past) can reserve instruments beyond working hours, while a new user’s access is limited to only working hours unless accompanied by an advanced user.
